First off, I had no idea that depression could vary in severity. I suppose I always thought you either have it or you don't. To have a scale like this, it can be insightful to understand how many traditional symptoms a patient is suffering with. Anyone with a higher score on this scale is considered to have severe depression which obviously calls for more intense medical attention.
